JERUSALEM – Tzipi Livni, who hopes to be appointed Israel's prime minister-designate, said Monday Israel must give up considerable territory in exchange for peace with the Palestinians, drawing a clear distinction with her rival, Benjamin Netanyahu.

She told a convention of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Organizations, "we need to give up half of the Land of Israel," using a term that refers to biblical borders that include today's Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

Afghanistan: 20-year prison sentence for Qur'an translation upheld on appeal

KABUL (AP) — An appeals court in Afghanistan upheld 20-year prison sentences Sunday for two men who published a translation of the Quran that drove religious leaders to call for their execution.

The controversial text is a translation of Islam's holy book into an Afghan language without the original Arabic verses alongside. Muslims regard the Arabic Quran as words given directly by God. A translation is not considered a Quran itself, and it is believed a mistranslation could warp God's word.

A host of Muslim clerics in this conservative Islamic state have condemned the translation — which was published in 2007 and handed out for free — as blasphemous and accused its publishers of setting themselves up as false prophets.

Critics have said the trial illustrates the undue influence of hard-line clerics in Afghanistan's fledgling legal system.

The appeals court found the men guilty of modifying the Quran — a crime punishable by death.

Calif. polygamist gets life term for family abuses

MURRIETA, Calif. – A self-proclaimed polygamist was sentenced Friday to seven consecutive life prison terms for torturing seven of his 19 children, abusing four others and imprisoning two of his three wives.

So, living in CA and he has three wives? I thought that was illegal? But it is ok, he is a muslim and the liberals love muslims.

Mansa Musa Muhummed, 55, also was sentenced to additional terms totaling 16 years and eight months by Riverside County Superior Court Judge F. Paul Dickerson III, who said Muhummed's treatment of his family amounted to "a reign of terror over defenseless children."

"If his appeals are exhausted and he does not prevail, he will die in prison," said Peter Morreale, Muhummed's attorney.

He should be put to death, to hell with dying in prison.

Muhummed was convicted in June of 25 counts, including torture, child endangerment, false imprisonment and corporal injury on a spouse.

At his trial, several of Muhummed's children and stepchildren testified against him, telling jurors they had been beaten, starved, strung up by their feet and forced to eat vomit and feces.
Doctors had said the children were extremely malnourished, with one 19-year-old daughter weighing 56 pounds.

"I'm still having nightmares and flashbacks," said Marlon Boddie, 29. "He don't need no mercy. He don't need no type of mercy. He knew what he was doing."

Muhummed — whose given name was Richard Boddie — denied the charges and blamed one of his wives for the alleged abuse. He was a convert to the Muslim faith, which he said gave him the right to have multiple wives.

So, he was a convert? He was just being a good muslim. Remember Old Mo said that men are superior.

"They need to adjust their lives as they see fit and hope and pray God has mercy on them," he said of his children. He also told the court that he accepted he may have made mistakes as a father.

He was arrested in 1999 after one of his wives slipped a 13-page letter to a postal service worker describing the abuse.

Another wife, Marva Barfield, agreed to plead guilty to one count of child endangerment and testified against Muhummed. She will likely be sentenced to time served, Deputy District Attorney Julie Baldwin said.

Sentencing came nearly a decade after Muhummed's arrest. His trial followed nine years of delays in which he represented himself and changed lawyers multiple times. Earlier Friday, he sought to have his attorney removed and filed a motion for a new trial, claiming he had new evidence to help clear his name, but the judge denied the motions.

Man charged in beheading

The founder of a Buffalo Muslim TV station established to portray Muslims in a good light has been charged with murder after his wife was beheaded.

Muzzammil Hassan, 44, arrived at a police station in surburban Orchard Park, N.Y., on Thursday night to say his wife, Aasiya Hassan, 37, was dead.

Aasiya Hassan recently filed for divorce, authorities said. According to Buffalo News reports, she obtained an order of protection on Feb. 6, barring her husband from their home in Orchard Park.

Under sharia law followed by Muslims, a woman can ask for a divorce, but only a man can grant the request, and he can refuse, according to a book on sharia published last month, Cruel and Usual Punishment, by Egyptian-born American author Nonie Darwish.

Under Islamic law, crimes such as apostasy (leaving Islam), adultery, theft or drinking alcohol are punishable by beheading, stoning, amputation of limbs or flogging, the book says.

So, he considered her an apostate, therefore, according to the Old Mo's book, she must be killed.

Muzzammil Hassan arrived in the United States from Pakistan in 1979, news reports from 2004 say. They do not say whether his wife arrived with him.

AMMAN: A Jordanian man has been charged with premeditated murder for killing his sister while she was asleep over her alleged “suspicious behaviour,” a judicial official said yesterday.

“The 21-year-old man stabbed his 24-year-old sister 10 times in different parts of her body with a kitchen knife while she was asleep on Tuesday night over her alleged suspicious behaviour” in Sahab, south of the capital Amman, the official said.

Three days ago, the unidentified suspect, who has confessed to the crime, “heard some men talking about his sister, who was a trainee lawyer, and decided to kill her without checking the truth,” according to the source, who did not elaborate.

“He said he regretted murdering his sister, particularly after forensic tests proved that she was virgin,” the official said.

He added that the suspect will “undergo a psychological examination to determine his mental state.”

Minor sexually abused by dad's friend

A 45-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on charges of repeatedly raping a seven-year-old girl over the past six months.

According to the Kanakia Nagar police, Kavita (name changed) stays in the pump room of Poonam Nagar Complex, Om Sai Enclave, in Mira Road where her father works as a watchman. The accused, Mohammed Khan, also used to be a watchman in the same building and would often drop in their home, being a friend to the girl's father-the girl had been sexually abused since August, 2008.

Khan now works as a peon with a local builder. Kavita's mother, a domestic help, told the police that Khan was like a family member who would "pamper the girl and often bring food for her". They, she said, never suspected anything and their daughter would often be alone with Khan when they would be out.

The matter came to light when Kavita complained of pain in her private parts. She said Khan would undress her and force himself on her.

He had even threatened to kill her if she told her parents. On Tuesday, Kavita's mother lodged a complaint following which Khan was arrested.

Muslim girl in baptism row was fleeing an arranged marriage

The foster mother struck off for allowing a Muslim girl to convert to Christianity took the child in after she was threatened with an arranged marriage.

The woman, a devout Christian, was asked to care for the teenager after the authorities learned of her abusive family background.

Her father beat her just for chatting to boys and warned he would haul her off to Pakistan to marry against her will, a friend claimed.

But council officials were angered when the girl chose to be baptised. They insist the foster mother failed in her duty to preserve the girl's original religion.

As a result, the girl was removed and the foster mother struck off the register last November, despite having worked with children for ten years with a perfect record.

Neither the carer, who has looked after more than 80 children, nor the girl, who is now 17, can be identified.

But a friend of the girl claimed yesterday:

'Her dad is a very strict Muslim who could get violent. One time he hit her with a belt just because she chatted with a couple of boys.

'Another time he beat her over and over and said he would take her to Pakistan and make her marry.

'She really didn't want that. She was very frightened. Her dad would shout and swear at her and told her that she'd shamed the family.

'Her mother didn't really do anything to protect her.'

After the local authority became aware of the situation the girl was removed from her family and placed with the carer, a single mother of two.

The foster mother says she initially tried to discourage the girl from attending church and offered to take her to a mosque instead.

But the girl, who was 16 at the time, was determined to go to church and after two months chose to be baptised.

The woman said it had never occurred to her that she would be taken off from the register.

The move has stripped her of her sole income and she has had to move into a one-bedroom flat.

Her lawyer Nigel Priestley said the local authority has agreed to review the case next month.
It is the start of a process which could lead to her being reinstated as a foster parent.

Mike Judge, from the Christian Institute, which is funding her case, said: 'In any free society people must be free to change their religion.'

The case follows the controversy over Caroline Petrie, 45, the Christian nurse in Somerset suspended without pay in December for offering to pray for an elderly female patient.
She was reinstated last week.

So, she should have protected the girl's muslim religion when what she was really fleeing was islam itself? That makes no sence. Sanaa, 12 Feb. (AKI) - A new law passed in Yemen gives women greater legal protection, in relation to marriage and motherhood. The law raises the minimum age for marriage to 17, and provides for the right to alimony and recognition of the mother as the sole guardian of her children.

Despite penalties for anyone who violates the law, it appears that it will allow some girls under the age of 17 to be married if a judge rules the marriage is "in the best interest of the child".

A Yemeni Islamist deputy said restrictions outlined under the new law were not consistent with Islamic Sharia law.

"It is not possible to clearly define the minimum age for marriage, because it all depends on the level of maturity of the spouse, from a physical and mental point of view," said Zayd al-Shami, quoted by pan-Arab daily al-Quds al Arabi.

"To define marriage age in such a specific manner is in clear contrast to Islamic Sharia law."
According to the English-language Yemen Times, the parliament also passed an amendment concerning women and children in two laws.

The amendments include facilitating pre-marital medical checks to determine genetic faults, dangerous diseases or health risks, as well as restricting polygamy to the husband's ability to support more than one family.

"Fairness is included in all aspects, such as time spent with each wife, housing and logistics," said the Yemen Times.

That depends on the assumption that polygamy is fair.

"The first wife also has to be legally notified of his intention of marrying another to allow them to make future decisions."

It is in the best interest of the child to marry some old guy? In a polygamous marriage on top of that as well? How well will she be treated by the older wife/wives? This is not a front- or even back-page story in the American press today. Why? Because it has nothing to do with the economy.

DUBAI (Reuters) - An al Qaeda leader, in a video released on Islamist websites on Friday, urged Somali militants to step up attacks against Somalia's new moderate government, which he dismissed as U.S.-backed.


"Aim your arrows towards them..., direct your battles against them and intensify your campaign against them," Abu Yahya al-Libi said on the video. He called for a jihad, or holy war, against the new government of Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, a moderate Islamist who was elected late last month as president.


"Prepare to fight against the campaign of conspiracies illustrated by the recent farcical presidential election ..., which America -- the world leader of infidels -- was the first to welcome," Libi said."

Prominent Orchard Park man charged with beheading his wife

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

"He came to the police station at 6:20 p.m. [Thursday] and told us that she was dead," Orchard Park Police Chief Andrew Benz said late this morning.

Muzzammil Hassan told police that his wife was at his business, Bridges TV, on Thorn Avenue in the village. Officers went to that location and discovered her body.

Muzzammil Hassan is the founder and chief executive officer of Bridges TV, which he launched in 2004, amid hopes that it would help portray Muslims in a more positive light.

The killing apparently occurred some time late Thursday afternoon. Detectives still are looking for the murder weapon.

"Obviously, this is the worst form of domestic violence possible," Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III said today.

Authorities say Aasiya Hassan recently had filed for divorce from her husband.

"She had an order of protection that had him out of the home as of Friday the 6th [of February]," Benz said.

Muzzammil Hassan was arraigned before Village Justice Deborah Chimes and sent to the Erie County Holding Center.

Another honour killing in the US? We did not hear about this in the main stream media.

The Domino’s takeaway only makes food with Halal meat.

Customers who want a traditional pizza are directed from the shop in the mixed race district of Hall Green, Birmingham, to a non-Halal branch of Domino’s two miles away.

Yesterday pizza fan Chris Yates, 29, a hospital worker, said how he was told he could not have a Meteor pizza topped with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, ground beef and bacon.

“It’s a disgrace,’’ he said. “I’m all for racial and religious tolerance but, if ­anything, this is intolerant to my beliefs.”...

'Too Christian' for Academia? A four-volume encyclopedia gets pulped in the name of political correctness.

Wiley-Blackwell, a major academic press, was set to release its four-volume Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization this month. According to the encyclopedia's editor, George Thomas Kurian, the set had been copy-edited, fact-checked, proofread, publisher-approved, printed, bound, and formally launched (to high praise) at the recent American Academy of Religion/Society of Biblical Literature conference.

But protests from a small group of scholars associated with the project have led the press to postpone publication, recall all copies already distributed, and destroy the existing print run. The scholars' complaint? The Encyclopedia of Christian Civilization, they have reportedly argued, is "too Christian." "They also object to historical references to the persecution and massacres of Christians by Muslims," Kurian says, "but at the same time want references favorable to Islam.

"Political correctness in academic publishing is nothing new, but it would be unusual, to say the least, for ideological pressure to lead a publisher to reverse itself so late in the process, especially given the significant financial losses involved in pulping a print run of a gigantic four-volume encyclopedia. As Kurian puts it, "This is probably the first instance of mass book-burning in the 21st century.

"Last week, Kurian e-mailed a memo to his nearly 400 contributors informing them of Wiley-Blackwell's decision, and of his intention of pursuing on their behalf a class-action breach-of-contract lawsuit. Kurian's memo was soon distributed on the e-mail list of the Society of Christian Philosophers, and is getting attention in the blogosphere.

The memo also claims that the "words or passages [the critics] want deleted" include "Antichrist," "BC/AD (as chronological markers)," "Virgin Birth," "Resurrection," and "Evangelism." "To make the treatment 'more balanced,'" the memo says, the critics "also want the insertion of material denigrating Christianity in some form or fashion.

"Kurian reports that critics objected to contributions from a number of established scholars, some from prominent academic departments and widely published in mainstream journals and academic presses-their work was deemed too theologically conservative and orthodox.

A representative of Wiley-Blackwell has sent an e-mail of his own to the encyclopedia's contributors, insisting that Kurian's charges are "completely without foundation." The press's actions, the representative claims, stem simply from a concern for "standards of appropriate scholarship." This concern has led it to decide that the work's articles require further review before publication. The publisher has not explained why its academic standards did not prevent it from granting final editorial approval and printing the encyclopedia. To paraphrase John Kerry, it would seem that Wiley-Blackwell was for publication before it was against it.

Nothing really new here except that the books will be destroyed. Social studies books for seventh graders already have a pro-muslim agenda.

Aren't they entertaining? I just love to watch muslims get all upset about a holiday that celebrates love. Muslims don't believe that love matters in a relationship. All that matters is that they muslim male gets sex on demand. When his old wife does not look like a little girl anymore, he can just divorce the old one and buy himself a little girl. Or, he can just take on another wife or four.

Hamas slams Amnesty International report over committing crimes in Gaza

Islamic Hamas movement on Wednesday slammed an Amnesty International report which accused the movement of committing crimes in Gaza Strip where the movement has been ruling since June 2007.

Hamas spokesman in Gaza Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement that the Amnesty International report "is unfair and a false accusation against Hamas movement and the government."

Amnesty International accused Hamas movement and its militants as well as members of deposed Hamas government police of executing civilians, shooting dozens of people in their knees and torturing many others.

The report published testimonies of people were shot in their knees, some of them belong to Hamas' rival, moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement.

"All these positions and stories published in the report are illusory and very well-fabricated by the media," said Barhoum. "The organization only listens to one part and hasn't listened to the other."

Hamas took over Gaza Strip by force in June 2007 following weeks of heavy fighting with rival Fatah militants. The fighting ended after Hamas drove out Abbas' security forces from the enclave.

"This report is directly hurting Hamas reputation. Instead of just focusing on accusing Hamas, they should document the awful crimes of the massacres committed during the unfair war on our people," said Barhoum.

Meanwhile, he called on Amnesty International "to collect evidences and quote real witnesses from the ground and present those documents to the international courts to sue the (Israeli) occupation for its crimes."

I am shocked, shocked. AI is actually calling out Hamas? Look how the thin skinned muslims react? Their feelings are hurt that it is not Israel that is being attacked.

The editor and publisher of a top English-language Indian daily have been arrested on charges of "hurting the religious feelings" of Muslims.

The Statesman's editor Ravindra Kumar and publisher Anand Sinha were detained in Calcutta after complaints.

Muslims said they were upset with the Statesman for reproducing an article from the UK's Independent daily in its 5 February edition.

The article was entitled: "Why should I respect these oppressive religions?"
It concerns the erosion of the right to criticise religions.

In it, the author, Johann Hari, writes: "I don't respect the idea that we should follow a 'Prophet' who at the age of 53 had sex with a nine-year old girl, and ordered the murder of whole villages of Jews because they wouldn't follow him."...

Muhammad really did those things, according to Muslim sources, but as we have seen before, the truth is no defense in such cases.

Some Muslims close to the Jamiat-e-Ulema e Hind (The Organisation of Indian Scholars, a leading Islamic group in India) later filed a complaint with police alleging that the publication had "outraged their religious feelings", which is an offence under Section 295 A of the Indian Penal Code.

Mr Kumar has said he has already issued a public apology for reproducing the article.

"I admit it was an editorial misjudgement but it was never intentional," Mr Kumar told the BBC in an interview.

Kumar should not have apologized.

As you can see I have no problems with hurting the religious feelings of muslims. That is why I say they all should be killed. After all they love death in the same way that we love life.
