Minnesota Islamic center, imam implicated in Somalis' leaving U.S. to join jihad in Somalia
Many people in the Twin Cities said they suspect the Abubakar As-Saddique Islamic Center and its iman [sic] are influencing Somali youth to become jihadists in an Islamic holy war overseas, or possibly in the United States, a charge the mosque denies, USA Today reported Friday.
"They are very powerful, whoever got into his mind and got him to do this," says the grandmother of one person who disappeared and eventually called her from Somalia. "We were forced out of our country one time. We don't want to be forced out of here."
Community activist Abdizirak Bihi says all of the youth who disappeared were raised by single mothers and spent a lot of time at the mosque.
"We are wanting the government and politicians to investigate who is responsible for sending our kids and we are requesting the American government to help us to get back our kids." Bihi said.
FBI Special Agent E.K. Wilson of the Minneapolis office wouldn't tell USA Today whether his agency is investigating the mosque, but said the agency knows that Muslims have been going overseas to fight.
"We're aware that a number of Somali men have traveled from around the United States, including Minneapolis, to potentially fight overseas," Wilson said.
The OIC calls on the media to suppress the truth
“With the multiplicity of terrorist attacks perpetrated recently by deviant and fanatic individuals, the General Secretariat of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has noticed a tendency of a section of the media, to interpose the word “Islam” in reporting these incidences.”
“Noted a tendency”? Whyever could this possibly be? Could it perhaps be because the terrorists shout “Allahu Akbar!” when launching their attacks? Or leave video testimonies calling for all Muslims to join them in a Holy War against the infidel while calling for the establishment of a global caliphate? Might this perhaps have misled some commentators into believing that these “deviant and fanatic individuals” have something to do with Islam? Or, perhaps they have been misled by the slogan of the Muslim Brotherhood, “Death in the path of Allah is the greatest glory,” into thinking that Allah has something to do with Islam.
The OIC statement continues:
“Islam, the religion of peace, tolerance and compassion, that sanctifies the human soul, and whose universal message is one of mutual peaceful coexistence among all the peoples of the world, regardless of their ethnicities, race, religions, and which calls for kind reasoning and dialogue with all their fellow human beings, abhors and despises all such criminal acts and had enacted the utmost severe punishment for their perpetrators.
”But peaceful coexistence with non-Muslims only ever applies as long as they show their submission to Islam by paying the jizya, protection money, and accept their state of dhimmitude, and maybe not even then. Evidence the million Jews who have been forced from their homes in Arab lands and the 400,000 Christians who have been driven from Iraq by Islamists (who of course have nothing to do with Islam) since the American-led invasion.

The Terrorist Training Manual
The biggest problem in our world today is this book. It is the koran. Made up by mohammed back in 7th century arabia. It is a book that is about arab supremacy. It is amazing to see how many people convert to this horrible ideology and then take up arms against family and country. This book tells muslims not to take non-muslims, kafirs, as friends. It allows men to marry upto four women and divorce any of them by stating "I divorce thee" three times. If they want to get remarried, the woman must marry another man, sleep with him, wait the three months waiting period to prove she is not pregnant, have the other guy divorce her and then they may remarry. A man may marry a baby, just not have sex with her until she is old enough. In the muslim world, old enough is nine. These are just a few of the goodies in the muslim "holy" book.Thursday, December 18, 2008
Defining the Enemy: Islam
Using such terms as “Islamism,” Islamic fundamentalism,” “extremist Islam,” “radical Islam,” “militant Islam,” “political Islam,” “IslamoFascism” fails to expose the unique political and theological nature of the enemy, and this failure is a strategic error.
Henri Boulad, an Egyptian Jesuit and specialist in Islam, boldly states, “Islamism is Islam.” This statement, he says,
is perfectly consistent with history and geography, with the Qur’an and the sunna, with the life of Muhammad and the evolution of Islam, with what Islam says about itself. I reject the position of people—Muslims or Christians—who bury their heads in the sand like ostriches … refuse to see the situation objectively, or take their wishes for realities, on behalf of dialogue and tolerance.
The Qur’an exalts the Muslim who “slays and is slain” for Allah (Sura 9:111). Islam, therefore, is a religion of death.
Defining Islam exposes you to the canard of racism. It can also lead to violent backlash. However, since Islam is waging war against the West, the West will lose this war if its political and intellectual leaders fail to educate public opinion about the true nature of the enemy.
One way to avoid the issue is to speak of “Muslim moderates.” That there are such Muslims is not strategically relevant in a time of war. Many Muslim moderates, as Daniel Pipes admits, are latent “extremists.” He estimates that 150 million Muslims support Jihad. Some estimate more than 300 million, equivalent to the population of the United States! Islam has a 1,400-year history. The West has taken a holiday from history—even from 9/11. However Islam is defined, Muslims have slaughtered about 270 million “infidels” since the time of Muhammad.
The question for statesmen is: how to name the enemy and control the untoward passions that may follow? Euphemisms will not do when the survival of civilization is at stake. We are confronted by an enemy more dangerous than Nazism. Such democratic concepts as “conflict resolution,” “proportionality” (in the use of force), and avoidance of “collateral damage” guarantee the victory of the wicked. Against Islamic ruthlessness, the humanism of liberal democracy is obsolete.
To clearly define the enemy, I will cite and paraphrase passages from a must-read book, Faith, Reason, and the War Against Jihadism (2007), by the Catholic theologian George Weigel.
1) Jihadism is rooted in “The notion that there are ‘no innocents’—that the enemy is ‘guilty’ simply by reason of drawing breath …’” This generates “a strategy of open-ended mayhem based on the radical dehumanization of the ‘other.’” Jihadism murders human reason.
2) The Bible calls on the faithful to use their reason in understanding its teachings. Abraham, Moses, the prophets wrestle with the meaning of God’s purposes and commandments. Islam’s holy book, by contrast, is described by an influential Egyptian Islamic activist in these terms: “The Qur’an for mankind is like a manual for a machine.”
3) Richard John Neuhaus defines jihadism as “the religiously inspired ideology [which teaches] that it is the moral obligation of all Muslims to employ whatever means [are] necessary to compel the world’s submission in Islam.” For example, using Arab children as human bombs to kill Jews. Israel’s conflict with Palestinian jihadists is not about territory; the ultimate issue is theological.
4) The notorious Sayyid Qutb, an Egyptian who taught global jihad, declared, “[Our struggle] is not about territory but about truth and which truth would prevail in the world.” He scorned the idea of “three monotheistic faiths.” “For him, other religions were not simply mistaken, they were evil, ‘filth’ to be expunged.”
5) The French philosopher Alain Besancon has said, “Efforts to engage in ‘dialogue’ with Muslims have been set on a mistaken course.” Unlike Christianity, Islam has failed to adapt to the Enlightenment or the Age of Reason. The Taliban religious police posted an instruction which said, “Throw reason to the dogs—it stinks of corruption.”
[It seems that both Binyamin Netanyahu and Barack Obama have also thrown reason to the dogs, since one is eager to meet with Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas, who exalts homicide bombers, while the other is eager to meet with Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad who intones death to America.”]
6) Weigel says that a Muslim leader who will not condemn suicide/homicide bombing publicly and with the perpetrators condemned by name, is not a leader with whom reasonable people can be in serious conversation. How are we to deal with state-sponsored jihadism?
7) Weigel warns that “deterrence strategies are unlikely to be effective, because it is almost impossible to deter those who are committed to their own martyrdom.” If deterrence is not a realistic option, then regime change is the only alternative, however difficult.
8) The trouble is that regime change runs against the secular religion of our times, relativism. Marcello Pera, former president of the Italian Senate, said: “Europe is infected by an epidemic of relativism. It believes that all cultures are equivalent. It refuses to judge them, thinking that to accept and defend one’s own culture would be an act … of intolerance … an anti-democratic, anti-liberal, disrespectful attitude toward the autonomy of other populations and individuals.”
9) But as Weigel rightly observes, cultural self-confidence is indispensable to victory over Jihadism. Alas, relativism is leading Europe to self-imposed dhimmitude. “Piglet” mugs have disappeared from certain British shops. Winnie the Pooh character has offended Muslim sensibilities. So, too, has Burger King ice cream twirls, which reminds some Muslims of Arabic script from the Qur’an. These laughable examples are symptomatic of the extent to which Europeans have become dhimmis in their own countries. But infinitely more is involved in Islam’s ascendancy in Europe.
10) Islam’s deep theological structure renders the notion of “three Abrahamic faiths” ultimately misleading in understanding Islam’s own faith and practice—particularly if the notion of “three Abrahamic faiths” “is understood in the popular imagination as a matter of three equivalent legs propping up a single monotheistic stool.”
11) Islam and its replacement theology, which has never fully liberated itself from Arab paganism, has a built-in tendency to set in motion an implacable and open-ended conflict with all other religions. Islam leaves no room for genuine dialogue and respect for human life.
12) “Alain Besancon takes us further into the matter when he draws yet another important distinction between Judaism and Christianity, on the one hand, and Islam, on the other: ‘Although Muslims like to enumerate the 99 names of God, missing among the list … is ‘father’—i.e.. a personal God capable of a reciprocal and loving relationship with men. … If God is not our ‘father,’ then it is difficult to imagine the human person as having been made ‘in the image of God.’” Is it any wonder that Jihadism is based on the radical dehumanization of the “other”?
13) Dr. Weigel refers to Islam’s “defective theology.” Which I enlarge upon in my book A Jewish Philosophy of History. Islam’s deity leaves no room for free will.
14) There remains the question of what must the West do in this world-historical struggle with Islam? Space limits me to consider only one of Dr. Weigel’s proposals. “Global jihadism,” he says, “would not be the threat it is had the West not transferred some $2 trillion in wealth to the Arab Islamic world since World War II—which, among other things, has allowed Saudi Arabia to spend an estimated $70-100 billion spreading Wahhabi doctrine and its summons to jihadic sedition and violence all over the globe.”
15) The devil, of course, is worldwide dependence on oil. Experts therefore propose a shift to more fuel-efficient transportation. They speak of plug-in hybrid vehicles and the use of biofuels and other alternative fuels that can be produced from inexpensive and widely available feedstocks. Apparently, the technology is available to produce a flexible fuel vehicle capable of going 500 miles on single gallon.
16) What is urgently needed now, however, is public enlightenment about Jihadism; and those most in need of enlightenment are America’s ruling elites, including president-elect Barack Obama.

'American Taliban' John Walker Lindh's kin ask President Bush for mercy
Frank Lindh and Marilyn Walker didn't help their son's case by slamming slain CIA hero Johnny (Mike) Spann's father, who blames the Muslim convert for failing to stop Spann's gruesome death in a 2001 Afghan battle.
"John Lindh had nothing to do with Mike Spann's death," Frank Lindh said in San Francisco. "It was a shameful thing, I think, for that father to continue to make those claims against our son."
The CIA paramilitary operative was gunned down in a firefight during a Taliban prison uprising at Mazar-e-Sharif two months after the 9/11 attacks.
Spann was videotaped questioning Lindh, who "didn't say a word," his dad, who's also named John, told the Daily News from his home in Winfield, Ala.
Since then, the grieving father has blamed Lindh for joining the Taliban, meeting Osama Bin Laden and failing to warn his son a violent uprising was in the works. He opposes any commutation of Lindh's remaining 13 years.
"I thought he ought to have got the damned electric chair," Spann said. He called Lindh's parents "cowards like he is."

Muslim teacher in carol concert tirade is made Ofsted inspector
You can tell by looking that this guy supports islamic terrorism against the West.A hardline Muslim teacher who caused a furore by denouncing pupils for celebrating Christmas has been made a Government schools inspector.
Israr Khan's Ofsted appointment was described by a former colleague as 'absolutely astonishing'.
Mr Khan, now headmaster of an Islamic school, launched into his tirade during a concert rehearsal at Washwood Heath Secondary School in Birmingham in 1996 after the choir including around 40 Muslim youngsters, had sung a number of popular Christmas songs, including carols.
He leapt from his seat, yelling: "Who is your God? Why are you saying Jesus and Jesus Christ? God is not your God - it is Allah."
As children in the audience began booing and clapping, a number of choir members - both white and Asian - walked out, some in tears.
Mr Khan, a maths teacher, was asked to work from home pending an investigation but there was no disciplinary action.
It has been claimed that Washwood Heath school was then a 'hotbed of Islamic fundamentalism'. Rashid Rauf - the airline terror bomb suspect whose extradition is currently being sought from Pakistan - was a pupil there at that time.
Mr Khan left Washwood Heath a year later to found the independent Islamic Hamd House Preparatory School in Small Heath, Birmingham, where he is headmaster.
Earlier this year, he was appointed as a governor of Anderton Park Primary School, in Sparkbrook, Birmingham.
A former Washwood Heath colleague laughed openly when told of Mr Khan's role as an Ofsted inspector where he has the responsibility for passing or failing schools.
He said: "Given the man's history, it's absolutely astonishing. It's just the cheek of the man that he's been able to reach that position. He always was an extremely clever man.
"He gave me many insights into the Islamic cause and their hatred of the US and the Western World. He had a big support base among some of the Muslim parents.
"But there were some very influential, radical elements at Washwood Heath at that time and Israr Khan was very close to all that."
Earlier this year, Anderton Park, where 99.5 per cent of the pupils are Asian, received a dismal Ofsted report which branded its teaching and its achievements as inadequate.
One Muslim father, who asked to be known only as Mohammed, said: "As a governor, Mr Khan will be able to exert a great deal of influence over the school and its policies.
"By his previous actions, he seems to represent what I would call a hardcore attitude to Islam."
Mr Khan declined to comment about his appointment, waving questions away at his large home in Moseley, Birmingham.
An Ofsted spokesman said: "Israr Khan was appointed as an additional inspector via a highly competitive recruitment and selection process. He has undergone all the relevant security checks."

UK: Blind man's guide dog barred from restaurant for offending Muslims
A blind man has been turned away from a fashionable Indian restaurant because his guide dog offended Muslim staff.
Alun Elder-Brown, a recruitment executive, said he was left feeling "like a piece of dirt" after being barred from bringing the animal into Kirthon Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, on religious grounds.
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association said the decision was illegal under the Disability Discrimination Act and Mr Elder-Brown, 51, is now considering suing the establishment in The Pantiles.
It follows a series of successful prosecutions of Muslim taxi drivers who refused to carry guide dogs in their cars because they considered them unclean on religious grounds.
Mr Elder-Brown was taking his girlfriend out to celebrate her birthday with her five year-old daughter last week when he was told he would have to leave his dog, Finn, tied up outside.
He showed a card issued by the Institute of Environmental Health Officers certifying he and his dog were allowed into any premises but an argument ensued and the owners threatened to call the police if he did not leave.
"It was humiliating and degrading, especially as there were a lot of people around me," he said.
"I was made to feel like a piece of dirt. They told me I couldn't come in because it was against their religious beliefs to have a dog in the restaurant.
"They then said I could leave Finn tied up outside. I stayed calm but when they threatened to call police I left."
He added: "It was horrible. It put a dampener on the whole celebration."...

London News: A sexually explicit art work depicting a Burkha-clad woman exposing a nipple sparked outrage among some Muslims
A SEXUALLY explicit art work depicting a Burkha-clad woman sparked outrage today after it went on on display at a London gallery. The image shows a woman in a full-length burkha – but instead of having a cut-out for the eyes, the cut-out exposes one of her nipples. The artwork has already been condemned by the Union of Muslim Organisations of the UK and Ireland (UMO) as "blasphemous, cheap porn".A spokesman said: "At a time when tensions are already heightened, gallery owners shouldn't be exhibiting artwork like this - it's offensive, inflammatory. and degrading to Muslim women."Photographer Yeon Lee, defended her image, titled Seeing is Believing, claiming it "highlights the ways women are categorised in male-dominated societies".But the UMO said the image could spark similar angry scenes to those in Denmark in September 2005 when a newspaper printed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammed portraying him as a terrorist. He said: "People will protest. It's blasphemous – the artist just wants to make some money – and it's not helpful in this current climate."Gallery owner James Freeman, who is exhibiting the image as part of a wider collection, called Five Years, from emerging international artists in North London", agreed the image had "shock value". But he denied it was blasphemous. He said: "It's not ridiculing, or ironic, or degrading or perjorative. I don't think you could perceive any blasphemy in this."On the one hand the image conveys the idea of religious conservatism, but on the other hand, it expresses the idea of Western sexuality."A spokeswoman for the Metropolitan police said they had not yet received any complaints.

Ottawa man sentanced to 6 months for years of wife beating.
OTTAWA — A man convicted of repeatedly beating his wife, including the day after she gave birth to their second child, has been sentenced to six months in jail.
Ahmed Abada, 32, showed no emotion as he was taken into custody Friday after Ontario Court Justice Dianne Nicholas ruled that imprisoning the man was the only way to “sufficiently denounce his repeated pattern of abuse.”
Mr. Abada was found guilty in April of one count of assault causing bodily harm, three counts of assault, and one count of uttering death threats.
During his trial, his wife, a devout Muslim, testified she repeatedly returned to Mr. Abada despite the abuse he inflicted on her because she believed the Koran gave permission for a husband to beat his wife. She also feared that she would lose custody of their children if she went to police.
“These offences are extremely serious and show a significant pattern of dominance and control of this offender over his spouse,” said Judge Nicholas. “The complainant describes him as controlling, and the evidence before me is appalling in terms of the subjugation of this woman.”
Court heard that the assaults occurred over a 13-month period starting in December 2005, following the birth of their first child, and continued until January 2007, when the woman called police.
One of the assaults occurred the day after the woman gave birth to the couple’s second daughter in September 2006, when Mr. Abada punched the woman in the shoulders and upper chest after they arrived home from the hospital.
That was followed by another assault in December 2006, where Mr. Abada hit his wife’s head against the wall and put her in a headlock, which resulted in her requiring a neck brace. The woman finally called police after a January 2007 assault where the man twisted her arm behind her back, causing their three-month old daughter to fall onto the sofa.
The most severe assault occurred in December 2005, however, when Mr. Abada struck the woman repeatedly before choking her and throwing her to the ground. After the assault, he threw her out of their apartment barefoot in winter and without the hijab she always wears in public.
Judge Nicholas said pictures of the “horrific” injuries sustained by the woman during the December 2005 assault “tell a thousand words.”
“This was a brutal beating; the fact he put his hands to her neck is of concern,” said Judge Nicholas, who also characterized the assault that occurred after the birth as “provocative.”
During the trial, court heard the woman has no family in Ottawa and Mr. Abada, a University of Ottawa PhD student, controlled the family’s finances, including her student loans.
The woman, who is a master’s student, moved to Ottawa from Egypt after meeting Mr. Abada online.
“The victim, the mother of babies, was quite vulnerable. She was living in a new country and completely separated from family,” said Judge Nicholas, adding Mr. Abada has shown no remorse for his actions.
In fact, she said, Mr. Abada and his family “completely lack insight into his behaviour” and blame the victim for his situation.
“There is no evidence he has sought counselling for his problem of domestic abuse; he is still in denial with respect to his behaviour,” said Judge Nicholas.
In addition to the six-month sentence, Judge Nicholas ordered the man be placed on 12 months of probation, provide a sample of his DNA to the national databank and not possess any weapons for the next two years.
UN Survey: Arabs Read Approximately 4 Pages Per Year
The average Arab in the Middle East reads approximately four pages worth of literature a year, according to a RIA Novosti Russian news service report published in November.
The Syrian newspaper Tishreen, commenting on a recent survey conducted by the United Nations, said that according to the study, Americans read an average of 11 books a year, with the average Briton reading eight books.
The Arab Thought Foundation, which reports on cultural development in Arab countries, concluded that only a little more than 8 percent of Arabs aspire to a higher education.
The U.N. survey reported that every year, one new book title is published per 12,000 people in the Arab world, as compared with one per 500 people in Britain. Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) says Israel publishes more than 4,000 books a year, making Israel the second highest per-capita publisher in the world, after the People's Republic of China.
The United Nations Development Programme Literacy Report for 2007-2008 listed Israel in 56th place for world literacy, with the Palestinian Authority coming in 80th, Jordan 84th, Lebanon 97th, Iran 114th, Syria 120th, and Egypt in 132nd place.
Sept. 11 Suspects Offer to Plead Guilty ‘in Full’
Self-described Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four co-defendants today offered in a Guantanamo Bay courtroom to plead guilty to charges that could lead to the death penalty. The five reached agreement to “announce our confessions and plea in full,” according to a document read in court by Judge Stephen Henley, an Army colonel.
“I do not trust Americans,” Mohammed, who has previously said he wanted to be martyred, told the judge today. He claimed the existence of an “agreement between Bush and CIA who tortured me,” and the court, though he didn’t explain what he meant.
Military prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against the five alleged Sept. 11 conspirators including Mohammed, who has said he organized the al-Qaeda attacks that killed almost 3,000 people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania seven years ago. Relatives of five victims of the attacks sat in the gallery; it was the first time victims’ relatives were present in the courtroom with the terrorism defendants.
“Are you prepared to enter pleas to the charges against you today?” the judge asked Mohammed.
“Yes,” Mohammed responded.
The document read today in court was filed by all five defendants on Nov. 4 following a series of meetings among them.
“Our success is the greatest praise of the Lord,” the judge read from the document.
‘Without Any Pressure’
“All of these decisions are undertaken by us without any pressure or influence by Khalid Sheikh,” co-defendant Ali Abdul Aziz Ali told the judge. “What was said or will be said by Khalid Sheikh will be repeated by us, also.”
Mohammed and the others are among 250 being held at Guantanamo, a U.S. military prison camp in Cuba that has become the target of international criticism for jailing hundreds of suspected terrorists without charges. President-elect Barack Obama has pledged to close the prison, located in a remote patch of a U.S. Navy base on land leased from Cuba.
Henley asked military prosecutors to submit legal briefs on whether the commission can “accept a plea of guilty to a capital offense.”
Navy Commander Suzanne Lachelier objected to including her client, Ramzi Binalshibh, a nephew of Mohammed, in the filing of the Nov. 4 document. She said he had “been permitted to go to this meeting” and others “without notice to me.”
The court has reserved decision on Binalshibh’s request to dismiss his lawyer pending a hearing on the results of a psychiatric examination of Binalshibh.
Lawyer Denounced
Binalshibh denounced his lawyer in court, saying, “She is a person who is not cooperative and she lies.”
Defense lawyers have alleged that Binalshibh and defendant Mustafa al Hawsawi were intimidated by Mohammed to waive their right to legal representation.
The court has also reserved decision on al Hawsawi’s request to dismiss his military lawyer, Army Major Jon Jackson. Today, the judge granted Jackson’s request for a psychiatric examination to determine his client’s mental capacity to plead guilty. The judge said Jackson had described concerns about his client’s mental state in a secret court filing.
Al Hawsawi told the judge he decided to plead guilty “with all my complete mental capacity and voluntarily.”
The relatives in the gallery were chosen at random from 115 family members of Sept. 11 victims who applied for permission to travel to Guantanamo to witness the proceedings.
Obama has criticized the military commissions, saying the Guantanamo detainees should be tried either in federal court or before a military court-martial. Seventeen prisoners face war- crimes charges and Pentagon officials say as many as 80 at Guantanamo may be charged.

Tulsa highway patrolman subdues armed man who "was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission"
He thwarted prayers to AllahOKLAHOMA CITY All Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Sheldon Robinson was looking for was a burger and an oil change on his day off.
But Thursday he got a standing ovation from members of the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for his heroic actions in between.
On Sept. 5, Robinson dropped his wife and two children off at the Burger King restaurant at 41st Street and Memorial Drive and was pulling into an auto dealership across the street for an oil change when his cell phone rang.
"My spouse told me there was a man inside with a gun, saying he was going to kill everybody," said Robinson, an 11-year veteran of the highway patrol who is assigned to the Creek and Muskogee turnpikes.
Robinson turned around in time to see people fleeing the building, including his wife, who grabbed the couple's two children and hid in a nearby trash container area, closing the doors behind her.
It was only an instant, but Robinson said it seemed like hours before he got his truck turned around and pointed for the Burger King.
"I was relieved to see them in the Dumpster area, but I knew I had to go in there and see what was going on," he said.
Robinson, wearing his trooper badge around his neck and carrying his weapon, parked his truck and peered in the window of the Burger King.
Inside was a man dressed in black. A Glock .40-caliber handgun and a full box of ammunition sat on the tabletop next to him.
Three other people were looking for a way out when Robinson passedthem as he entered the restaurant.
When the man briefly removed his hand from his gun, Robinson, who had approached from the man's blind side, grabbed his arm.
Now alone in the restaurant, the two men wrestled on the floor before Robinson got one of his handcuffs around the man's arm.
"The second one didn't lock in place, so we went down again," Robinson said. "He was a pretty stout guy."
Robinson had the man fully cuffed by the time Tulsa police officers arrived.
"It was one of those deals of being in the right place at the right time," Robinson said. "I believe he would have loaded up that gun and gone to town because he was praying for Allah to help him carry out his mission."
Jerome Norvell Denson, 24, of Tulsa was arrested on charges of attempting to perform an act of violence and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony. He remains in jail awaiting a preliminary hearing....
Gaza out of animals for holiday slaughter
RAFAH, Gaza Strip -- Salah Afana's cattle business usually booms with the approach of the Muslim feast of the sacrifice. But this year he has hit a snag: He's out of cows.
Mr. Afana, Gaza's largest cattle trader, has been unable to import cows since Israel shut the strip's borders last month in response to Palestinian rocket fire. He since has sold all his stock -- less than half of what he sold last year -- and is turning customers away.
The Gaza-wide shortage of cows and sheep for slaughter is one of many disappointments Gazans face before Eid al-Adha, the most important holiday in the Muslim calendar. For them it's tantamount to Thanksgiving without turkey.
The four-day holiday beginning today is supposed to be one of the year's most joyful, but nothing is as it should be, Gazans say. An Israeli blockade on the ruling Hamas government has caused shortages of basic goods, and Palestinian political squabbling has kept thousands of would-be pilgrims from traveling to Mecca.
On top of that, their banks have run out of currency, depriving thousands of civil servants of salaries.
It's a sharp contrast to Bethlehem, in the West Bank, which after several bleak years is finally getting a Christmas season to cheer about. Hotels are booked solid, Manger Square outside Christ's traditional birthplace is already bustling with tourists, and Palestinian and Israeli security forces are working together to keep the peace.
"We're under siege, the pilgrims can't get out, and there's no money. How can we celebrate the holiday?" said Mahmoud Khozendar, a Gaza doctor.
Eid al-Adha commemorates the readiness of Abraham -- Ibrahim to Muslims -- to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, who stays his hand and provides a lamb instead.Gaza has about 10,000 sheep, half of the number needed for the holiday, said Ibrahim al-Kidra of the Agriculture Ministry. The price of a sheep has nearly tripled, to about $550, and there's little money available to buy them. For those lucky enough to find a cow, prices have jumped by a third, to about $2,000 each.
In a letter obtained by The Associated Press, Jihad al-Wazir of the Palestinian Monetary Authority begged Israel to allow his agency to send money to Gaza. He said Gaza's banks hold 47 million shekels ($12 million) --less than a fifth of what is needed to pay the public servants.
Israeli officials say the request is being considered.

ISLAM: MARONI, NEW 'MOSQUE' EVERY 4/5 DAYS IN ITALY
If the story of how an Islamic group denied Islamic burial to the Mumbai bombers last Monday was so important, why isn't this one? If the Mumbai burial story was evidence that at least some Muslims reject the jihad ideology (which it may indeed have been), isn't this story evidence that at least some Muslims, right here in the United States, accept it? And shouldn't that be something to which at least some people are paying attention? When the Muslim Jama Masjid Trust refused the Mumbai jihadists an Islamic burial, it made the news everywhere. Muqtedar Khan brought it up to me on the BBC the other day, and in response I pointed out that this gesture would have had much greater significance if not for the fact that Islamic jihad terrorists who have carried out suicide attacks and other attacks against Israel have been treated as heroes and given Islamic burials on numerous occasions.
But in any case, will this story get the same attention from the people who were so heartened by the denial of Muslim burial to the jihadists in India? After all, this is a story about an Islamic jihad-martyrdom bomber being given a Muslim burial in the United States -- and if that isn't enough, add in the little fact that the FBI seems to have pitched in (at taxpayer expense?) to bring his remains back into the country.
BURNSVILLE, Minn. (FOX 9)—One of the five men suspected to be a suicide bomber who killed himself and 29 others last October in Somalia, was buried Wednesday at a Burnsville Cemetery.
FOX 9 has learned DNA tests have confirmed Shirwa Ahmed was one of five suicide bombers who killed himself and 29 others last October in northern Somalia.
He is also a Minnesotan and a naturalized U.S. citizen.
The FBI helped return Ahmed's remains to his family.
At a Twin Cities cemetery in Burnsville Wednesday afternoon, the suspected suicide bomber was laid to rest.
Shirwa Ahmed, 27, was given a traditional Muslim burial.
Family and friends did not wish to talk about the circumstances of his death.
Community activist Omar Jamal is one of the few who will.
“Honestly I look at him seriously as a victim and not as a criminal, I think of him as a young victim," says Jamal....
Uh huh. Meanwhile, we learned last week that Shirwa Ahmed may have been recruiting jihad terrorists among Muslims in Minneapolis:
An investigation into terrorism recruiting among young Somalis leads to Minnesota. Shirwa Ahmed of Minneapolis is believed to have killed himself in a suicide bombing in Somalia last month. However, investigators fear he may have left a deadly legacy of recruiting other young Somalis to leave Minnesota and join terrorist groups in Somalia.
His high school pictures show a clean cut young man and neighbors at his Minneapolis apartment say lately 26-year-old Shirwa Ahmed had a thick beard.
"He doesn't talk to people," one neighbor said. [...]
In recent months a dozen young Somalis, some as young as 17, have left the Twin Cities, apparently headed back to Somalia where a civil war rages.
Omar Jamal, a local Somali activist, said the families of the young men are frightened.
"The families didn't think, it never crossed their mind, that their kids would have gone to Somalia either to blow themselves up or to join the holy war," said Jamal.
Sources tell WCCO the group suspected of recruiting the young Twin Cities men is know as al-Itihadd al-Islamiya, or AIAI, an organization with known ties to Al-Qaeda. [...]
Canjemi said the Twin Cities Somali community has been a ripe recruiting ground for AIAI for years.
"I believe this recruiting continues on a daily basis," he said.
According to national reports Al Qaeda is enjoying resurgence in Somalia. The FBI said the U.S. government continues to be involved in an active outreach to young Somalis to keep them from being courted by radical groups.
Which may be why the FBI helped bring Ahmed's body back to the States. But will the kuffar's ever-present willingness to help really keep young Somali Muslims in Minneapolis from joining the jihad?
European human rights court upholds French headscarf ban
Europe's human rights court today threw out a complaint by two French Muslim girls who were expelled from their school for refusing to remove their headscarves during sports lessons.
France, which takes secularism in state schools very seriously, passed a law in 2004 banning pupils from wearing conspicuous signs of their religion at school after a decade of bitter debate about Muslim girls wearing headscarves in class.
"The court observed that the purpose of the restriction on the applicants' right to manifest their religious convictions was to adhere to the requirements of secularism in state schools," the European Court of Human Rights said.
The two girls were 11 and 12 when they were expelled in 1999. After French courts ruled against them, they complained to the European court that their school had violated their freedom of religion and their right to an education.
The court, based in the eastern French city of Strasbourg, rejected both complaints by a unanimous ruling of seven judges.
It said the school had done its best to balance the interests of the girls with respect for France's secular model, and their expulsion was a consequence of their refusal to respect rules of which they had been properly informed.
It also said they had been able to continue their education by correspondence classes.
Interesting word choice:
The French veil debate divided a nation torn between its deep attachment to secularism and the need to accommodate Europe's largest Muslim minority. It also raised questions about how the influence of Islam was changing Europe.
Lego terrorist toy "sparks outrage among Muslims"
"Disgust At 'Lego' Terrorist Toys,"A range of Lego-style fighting figurines - including an Islamic terrorist militant - has sparked outrage among Muslims. The toy mini-figures, made by American Will Chapman, includes a masked terrorist bandit with an assault rifle, grenade launcher and belt of explosives.
Shocked by the playthings, British Muslim organisation the Ramadhan Foundation has branded the figurines "absolutely disgusting".
Chief executive Mohammed Shafiq said the figures were "glorifying terrorism".[...]
Father-of-three Mr Chapman boasts on his website that his nine-year-old son gave him the idea for the range.
The site advertises 31 different Lego-style weapons, weapons packs and 10 miniature militant figurines.
Other fighters in the range include World War Two troops, US marines - and a Nazi SS officer.
A spokesman for Lego UK said they were "not associated" with the toys being sold by BrickArms, "which have been customised without LEGO UK's knowledge or permission."
He added Lego is "committed to developing toys which enrich childhood by encouraging imaginative and creative play - and does not endorse products that do not fit with this philosophy."
British missionary couple in Muslim African country face months in jail "hell hole" after being charged with "sedition"
Out to overthrow the government of Gambia?Their whole focus has been teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ," remarked a family friend. But that's just it: proselytizing Muslim does, in fact, amount to sedition, that is, creating fitna, "civil strife," in Dar al-Islam.
"British missionary couple in Muslim African country face months in jail 'hell hole' after being charged with sedition,"
A British missionary couple face up to two years in an African hell hole jail after being charged with sedition in The Gambia.
David and Fiona Fulton were arrested last Saturday in the West African Muslim country, and have been separated and held in custody, according to sources.
The couple have been jailed over claims they had been speaking out against the government of president Yahya Jammeh, who has ruled Africa's smallest country with an iron fist for 14 years.
Mr Fulton, 60, who is originally from Troon, Ayrshire, was being held in the country's notorious Mile II prison - a high security jail outside the capital Banjul, described as a tough former colonial jail built during the days of the British Empire.
His wife Fiona, 46, was is understood to be in police custody with the couple's adopted two-year-old daughter Elizabeth.
She has been treated well by police officers who have run errands to buy nappies - but there were growing fears for her husband's safety.
A friend, who did not want to be named said: 'Fiona has been treated well. We are not sure about David. We don't think he's fared quite as well. He's not eating.'
The couple are being held until they are able to raise bail of £125,000 and meet other conditions.[...]"Bail"...or in Islamic parlance, Jizya.
Mr Fulton is chaplain to the Gambian army and carries the rank of major, while his wife looks after terminally ill people and visits women in their homes and in hospital.[...]
As well as ministering for the army, Mr Fulton also has a ministry on the river, which involves reaching immigration outposts and villages only accessible by boat.
The Westhoughton Pentecostal Church website states: 'This is a major challenge, as it involves a 10-day trip up river every month.
'But by God's grace he sees many won for the Lord from Islam and animism.'Hence the charge of "sedition" -- encouraging Muslims to apostatize, a crime punishable by death
The Gambia, one of Africa's smallest countries, is predominantly Muslim but has a significant Christian community, and indigenous beliefs are also practised.
A report in the International Herald Tribune said the Fultons were paraded on state television on Wednesday and charged in court in the capital, Banjul, yesterday.
The prosecution reportedly accused the couple of writing letters to individuals and organisations to 'bring into hatred or contempt, to excite disaffection against the President of the Republic and the government of The Gambia'.
The newspaper said the couple pleaded not guilty and the case was adjourned until December 16.
President Jammeh, who believes he has herbal treatments that can cure AIDS, has tolerated little dissent since he seized power in a 1994 military coup.
Since taking over as a young army lieutenant he has won three widely criticised multi-party elections.
A concerned friend of the couple added: 'While we are free to speak out, in Gambia you cannot.
'As a chaplain part of David's job is to provide comfort to all sorts of people, people high up and people low down - and people who have perhaps fallen out of favour.
'I don't know of anything they have done that could be called sedition. Their whole focus has been teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.'
Pastor Martin Speed, of Westhoughton Pentecostal Church in Bolton, Greater Manchester, said the couple had visited Christians at his church to talk about their work.
'The work he is doing is not political,' Pastor Speed said.
'He's sharing his Christian faith with people. There does seem to be a growing difficulty of Christians in the country of Gambia. We are really concerned about the situation.'
Darfur: Anonymous "gunmen" beat aid workers in accordance to sharia
Darfur, 5 Dec. (AKI) - Two gunmen equipped with assault rifles and a hand grenade stopped a humanitarian convoy in Sudan’s war-ravaged Darfur region, beat up the aid workers and stole money in the latest of a long series of such assaults that are impeding relief operations, the United Nations reported.
The non-governmental organisation convoy of three vehicles with six local staff was stopped in South Darfur on its way from Nyala, the provincial capital, to the Kalma camp, the joint UN-African Union mission in Darfur or UNAMID said in a statement.
“Although the workers complied without resistance to demands for money, the attackers assaulted them up before leaving the scene.”
“Three out of the six workers were reportedly severely beaten and taken to the local hospital, where their condition is listed as stable and non life-threatening.”
Initial reports suggest that the assailants were informed of the workers’ movements and that they were transporting cash intended for the payment of salaries for the Kalma camp staff.
“If proven right, these suspicions would point to an act of banditry," UNAMID added.
UNAMID, slated to reach 26,000 personnel but now only 10,500-strong, is being deployed throughout Darfur in an effort to bring peace to a region where more than five years of fighting between Government forces, allied Janjaweed militia and rebel groups have killed an estimated 300,000 people and driven another 2.7 million from their homes.
