Egyptian cleric: The Jews "are enemies not because they occupied Palestine. They would have been enemies even if they did not occupy a thing."

They keep telling us that it isn't about "stolen land," and that land concessions and even the creation of a Palestinian state will not end the conflict. And we keep refusing to believe it.

Muhammad Hussein Ya’qoub: If the Jews left Palestine to us, would we start loving them? Of course not. We will never love them. Absolutely not. The Jews are infidels – not because I say so, and not because they are killing Muslims, but because Allah said: “The Jews say that Uzair is the son of Allah, and the Christians say that Christ is the son of Allah. These are the words from their mouths. They imitate the sayings of the disbelievers before. May Allah fight them. How deluded they are.” It is Allah who said that they are infidels.

Your belief regarding the Jews should be, first, that they are infidels, and second, that they are enemies. They are enemies not because they occupied Palestine. They would have been enemies even if they did not occupy a thing. Allah said: “You shall find the strongest men in enmity to the disbelievers [sic] to be the Jews and the polytheists.”

Qur'an 5:82.

Third, you must believe that the Jews will never stop fighting and killing us. They [fight] not for the sake of land and security, as they claim, but for the sake of their religion: “And they will not cease fighting you until they turn you back you’re your religion, if they can.”

Qur'an 2:217.

This is it. We must believe that our fighting with the Jews is eternal, and it will not end until the final battle – and this is the fourth point. You must believe that we will fight, defeat, and annihilate them, until not a single Jew remains on the face of the Earth.

It is not me who says so. The Prophet said: “Judgment Day will not come until you fight the Jews and kill them. The Jews will hide behind stones and trees, and the stones and tree will call: Oh Muslim, oh servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him – except for the Gharqad tree, which is the tree of the Jews.” I have heard that they are planting many of these trees now. Hating Jews and other unbelievers is the root to islam. The only good unbeliever is a dhimmi. I don't plan on being a dhimmi. There will be blood in the streets before this happens in the US.

Afghanistan: University students protest alleged Qur'an desecration, chant slogans against Obama

Anti-Obama slogans? The students at Nangarhar University might find themselves charged with blasphemy.

But seriously, these kinds of protests once again raise the question: is the West going to accept Islamic standards of blasphemy and refrain from speaking about Islam (including jihad aggression) in a manner that Muslims consider insulting? The implications of that are ominous.

JALALABAD (SANA): Hundreds of students of Nangarhar University in eastern Nangarhar province held a protest demonstration against the alleged desecration of holy Quran in southern Ghazni province.

The angry students also blocked Kabul-Jalalabad Highway and chanted slogans against America, Obama, coalition forces and Israel.

Protest dispersed peacefully after passing a resolution asking Afghan government and international community to compel Americans to leave Afghanistan and stop insulting Islam....

Sifatullah, a law student said that ISAF soldiers should not only apologize to Muslims but should also bring the perpetrators to book.

Samiullah, a student of Agricultural Faculty said we strongly criticize coalition forces humiliating and disgracing approaches toward our religion, women and entire nation.”...

It is to be mentioned here that Polish soldiers on Friday in southern Ghazni province have allegedly insulted Quran while searching various Mosques.

Subsequent protests in Ghazni left scores of protestors injured as they engaged in a scuffle with police.

A soldier insulted the quran? How do you insult a book? Again ignorant people with twenty first century weapons are very dangerous. I just wish we would leave the middle east. Then the sunnis and shia can all be happy killing each other.

Fort Dix jihad convictions upheld, jihadists respond, "Allahu akbar!"

They yelled "Allahu akbar" not because they approved of the upholding of their own convictions, but because they accept all events as manifestations of Allah's perfect will, and probably also because they subscribe to Muhammad Atta's view: "Shout, 'Allahu Akbar,' because this strikes fear in the hearts of the non-believers."

Also, this is noteworthy because many commentators, as might be expected, denied at the time of the trial that there was any actual jihad aspect to this plot.

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — A judge in New Jersey has upheld guilty verdicts against five Muslim immigrants convicted last year of plotting to massacre U.S. soldiers.

The men's lawyers argued that the federal government's claims against their clients were not supported by evidence.

But a federal judge in Camden disagreed and has ruled the jury was right to convict them in December. He said the men received a fair trial.

Relatives and several of the men yelled, "Allah akbar" (AH'-lah AHK'-bar) — Arabic for "God is great" — in the courtroom after Thursday's ruling....

Afghanistan: "Violence is tolerated or condoned within the family and community, within traditional and religious leadership circles"

Two aspects of Islamic teaching figure prominently in this story. One is domestic violence, endorsed by Qur'an 4:34 . The other is child marriage, made sacrosanct by Muhammad's own example through marrying Aisha when she was 6, and consummating the marriage when she was 9.

UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- Rapes targeting girls as young as seven are on the increase in Afghanistan where conditions for women are little better than under the Taliban, the U.N. and rights groups say."

In its annual report on human rights, the U.N. warned conditions were deteriorating in the war-ravaged country despite U.S.-led efforts after the 2001 removal from power of the hardline militia.

"Violence is tolerated or condoned within the family and community, within traditional and religious leadership circles, as well as the formal and informal justice system," said Navi Pillay, the U.N. high commissioner for human rights.

The "Afghan government has failed to adequately protect the rights of women despite constitutional guarantees."

With a resurgent Taliban targeting NATO forces, government security forces and civilians, violence has been on the increase in Afghanistan..

The number of civilian casualties in 2008 totaled 2,118 -- the highest number recorded since the ouster of the Taliban in 2001, the U.N. said, urging greater protecting for ordinary Afghans.

Violence against women comes in the form of rape, "honor killings," early and forced marriages, sexual abuse and slavery, the report says. "The security is the big issue," said Suraya Pakzad, founder of the Voice of Women Organization, which promotes education and awareness of women's rights and protects women and girls at risk in Afghanistan.

"Because of security we, unfortunately, day by day, we have to pull out of areas where last year we operated, we have our operations. We were able to work with the women, but this year we cannot," she said.

"We have to leave the area because security is getting worse day by day."

"Rapes in the country have been growing tremendously, particularly child rapes within the ages of 9, 8, 7, even lesser than that," said Wazhma Frogh, director of Global Rights Afghanistan.

"So these are the issues that are all born by this lack of security where women have no place in ... security decisions."

Domestic violence against child brides is widespread, said Suraya Pakzad, the founder of the Voice of Women organization, who was married at age 14 and has six children. She said girls as young as 10 face "violation" by husbands 40 years their senior. "By the end ... women, or girls, run away."

But women without husbands, especially widows, may have it even worse in Afghanistan, the report says. Without a spouse, the women are reduced to begging to feed their children.

Options outside the home are limited where the Taliban holds sway in Afghanistan. The Taliban's interpretation of strict Islamic law, or sharia, has included banning girls from school and the workplace.

Even in areas not overrun by the Taliban, women face risks outside the home.

"The assassination of the most prominent national female senior police officer, in Kandahar in September 2008, underscores the tremendous risks faced by women in public life," the report says.

So, the sharia is the law of the land in Afghanistan and the Somalis are fighting to be ruled by sharia. See how well islam treats its women? They are just property of muslim men. They can be baught from their fathers for the dowry. They can be divorced at the drop of a hat. They are not allowed out of the house without their guardian. This is what they would like to see in the West. We had better wake up.

Pakistan urges West, EU to shun Islamophobia

Odd, however, that even though billions of peoples around this world suffer from "poverty, injustice, and deprivation," the Islamic world has the lion's share of terrorism. To be sure, Latin American (e.g., Cuba) and non-Muslim Asian countries (e.g., China) have their fair share of oppressive, authoritarian regimes, of poverty, and of all the rest that the Muslim world suffers. Yet there are no records of, say, practicing Christians or Buddhists crashing explosives-laden vehicles into Cuban or Chinese Communist government buildings all while screaming “Jesus is great!” or "Buddha is great!” Why?

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Kashmir Affairs has urged Western countries, especially the European Union (EU), to shun ‘Islamophobia’ and try to promote a better, broader and more realistic image of Islam and Muslims in media.

Agreed: the media should definitely be dedicated to promoting "a better, broader" but above all "more realistic image of Islam and Muslims."

This was observed during a meeting between the committee and the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament on Thursday. The Senate committee, led by Senator Mushahid Hussain, called for addressing the root causes of terrorism, poverty, injustice and deprivation, to eradicate it...

Somalia: Thousands demonstrate in Mogadishu in support of Sharia Law

While this Somali report is up front that thousands of Somalis demand sharia, Western media spin-offs, such as MSNBC's, title their version of the story, "Thousands of Somalis demand peace at rally," with little focus on sharia per se.

Horseed Media - On thursday, thousands of people took to the streets in the Somali capital Mogadishu in support of introducing the Sharia law.

The demonstrators gathered in Mogadishu Stadium, where Sheikh Ahmed Dahir Aweys the brother of opposition leader Hassan Dahir Aweys told the crowds to support the implementation of sharia law in the country.

He said it was a religious duty which should be uphold in all times.

“…the sharia is pure justice that fights with everything that is evil….” Says Sheikh Ahmed Dahir Aweys.

Today’s demonstrations was in support of the decision of the Somali religious council who last week released an advisory report calling for the new government to introduce the sharia law in the country.

The religious council said the Federal Parliament should approve the sharia law within months.
The Somali religious council also called for the African Peacekeepers AMISOM to withdraw their troops in Mogadishu within 120 days.

Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, the newly elected Somali President in a press conference last week said, he was not against the introducing of the Sharia law and that he was ready to accept a cease fire with armed groups in Mogadishu.

This is worst than communism. Once islam gains a foot hold in more countries we are going to see the re-emergence of the caliphate. Then they will be pushing for borders of muslim countries to be eliminated. The goal is one giant islamic nation. Then they will really persue the rest of the world.

"Dancing girls" must be exiled, businesses closed during prayer

An agreement has been made in Pakistan's troubled Swat valley to remove dancing girls from the main town of Mingora, a top official has said.

Malakand Commissioner Mohammed Javed told the BBC that an agreement had also been made for shops and businesses in Swat to close during prayer times.

Militants and officials recently agreed a truce as they try to implement a peace deal that will bring Sharia law.

However, more violence on Tuesday has put the truce under increased strain.

Suspected militants shot and killed two soldiers and kidnapped an official.
'Talebanisation'

Mr Javed told the BBC that the agreement to remove the dancing girls and close businesses during prayers was agreed between him and Sufi Mohammad, the cleric who is brokering the peace deal between the government and militants in Swat.

The BBC's M Ilyas Khan in Pakistan says that critics of the deal see it as part of the growing Talebanisation of Swat and proof that the militants are increasingly exerting their influence despite President Asif Ali Zardari's recent assertions that Pakistan has not and will not negotiate with "extremist Taleban and terrorists".

Our correspondent says that the decision to make the dancing girls leave Mingora effectively means they have been sent into internal exile and that Swat is now embracing an Islamic legal system that also pronounces on social and political questions.

The Taleban have destroyed nearly 200 schools, most of them for girls, during a sustained campaign against secular education in Swat...

UN may make ban on criticizing Islam mandatory, making it a criminal offense in the U.S.

Muslim-dominated nations at the United Nations are once again pushing a religious "anti-defamation" plan that would bar worldwide all criticism of their founder Muhammad and his teaching.

According to a report by CNN's Lou Dobbs posted on YouTube, the proposal that has been repeatedly brought in recent years by the Organization of Islamic Conference states is expected to resurface as early as this spring.

This time, however, the resolution wouldn't allow nations to opt out.

"The United Nations has adopted what it calls a Resolution to Combat Defamation of Religion," Dobbs said in the report. "The U.N. now wants to make that anti-blasphemy resolution binding on member nations, including, of course, our own. That would make it a crime in the United States ... to criticize religion, in particular, Islam."

Note well: the point of outlawing criticism of Islam is not just to shield notoriously thin-skinned believers from the prospect of critical examination of the religion's texts and tenets. Along with that, the point of outlawing criticism of Islam is to keep law enforcement, government, media, and the general public in the dark about the beliefs, the ideology, and the motives and goals of jihad terrorists. You can't defeat an enemy that you can't speak about and don't understand.

Constitutional lawyer Floyd Abrams said in the report, "What they would do would be to make it illegal to put out a movie or write a book or a poem that somebody could say was defamatory of Islam."...

The anti-defamation resolutions began with describing the "need" to protect Islam and in recent years has developed into a call for the protection for "religions" from defamation.

However, the only religion specifically cited, in fact, is Islam.

The Muslim nations have sought to have member states enact laws banning such "blasphemy."
The plan expected to be introduced soon, however, will include a recommendation to the U.N. Human Rights Council that the ban be made binding on member nations, the report said....

Family of Jerusalem tractor jihadist: he was "a normal person who did not hold extremist views"

He plowed into a police car and was apparently also trying to hit a bus. But it was an accident, you see, and he was a "moderate."

And there was an open Qur'an in the glove compartment.

Of course, every time a Muslim commits a jihad attack, we hear from his family and friends about how he was just a regular guy, a gentle soul, wouldn't hurt a fly, and they're shocked, shocked, by this incident. Just once it would be refreshing to hear the uncle or cousin of a jihadist admit it all and say something like, "Yes, he did this because he totally hated Jews and Christians and wanted to kill them, as per the Qur'an's instructions to wage war against unbelievers."

Family members of Mir'i Radeideh, 26, of the Beit Hanina neighborhood in east Jerusalem, who carried out the Thursday tractor attack in the city, told Ynet that they believe the event was an accident.

According to the family, he was "a normal person who did not hold extremist views" and thus they don't believe he was undertaking a terror attack.

He has the book of hate open in the glove compartment and it has nothing to do with terrorism or islam? Sure.

Taliban blows up Pakistani music stores

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AFP) — Taliban militants blew up 16 shops selling music and DVDs in northwest Pakistan overnight, police said Thursday.

"An improvised explosive device planted in a market selling music and DVDs in Takhtbhai town blew up 16 shops overnight," local police official Fazal Mabood told AFP, blaming Taliban insurgents.

There were no casualties in the attack in the town, northwest of Peshawar, because the market was closed at the time of explosion, he added.

Islamist militants have bombed scores of entertainment shops across the country's northwest in recent years, charging that music and films are contrary to the teachings of Islam...

International Islamic organization slams Israeli program on Muhammad and calls again for free speech restrictions

The Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, vehemently condemned the Tenth Israeli TV channel’s defamation of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), hurting thus the feelings of Muslims and slurring their faith. He emphasizes that the calumnious program bears testimony to the truly racist character of the Israeli Establishment and its steadfast endeavors to trigger dissension and stir up conflicts particularly that this condemnable act unfolds a few days after the broadcast of a program with offensive material against Prophet Jesus and his Mother Mary (peace be upon them).

The feelings of Muslims throughout the Muslim world have been hurt by the unceasing and malignant campaign against Islam and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The campaign has shamelessly targeted all sacred beliefs and symbols, persistently slandering Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and disparaging a tolerant religion embraced by more than a billion and a half people.

Hence, the OIC emphatically reaffirms that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is a red line for the Muslim Ummah [nation] and reiterates the call for the creation of an international alliance to combat the defamation of religions and scared [sic!] faiths and oppose any insults against religious symbols.

Israel: Kassam rocket "tear[s] through an empty school"

Palestinians fired two advanced Kassam rockets at Ashkelon on Saturday morning, in an attack that saw one projectile tear through an empty school, destroy classrooms, and spray shrapnel in all directions.

Damaged areas in the school included some that had been deemed safe zones by the Home Front Command.

Two people living near the school were lightly wounded and eight were treated for shock.

The second rocket hit an open area in the city, causing no injuries or damage.

Four additional rockets were fired during the day at the western Negev, striking open areas and causing no damage.

On Saturday evening, a seventh rocket hit the Sha'ar Hanegev region.

A police source told The Jerusalem Post that terrorists in Gaza assembled the rockets that struck Ashkelon using an improvised technique to make them more powerful.

The two rockets, which were retrieved and analyzed by police sappers, had a 170-mm. diameter, which allowed for a greater amount of explosives to be packed inside.

"These are improved Kassams, more powerful than standard Kassams. They have a longer range and pack a bigger punch," the source said...

HATE preacher Anjem Choudary will march in London today calling for Britain to adopt Islamic Sharia law.

The startling move comes just days after processions celebrating St George were banned for being racist.

Choudary was given the green light yesterday despite a previous demonstration in which some of his supporters chanted: “Bomb the UK”.

Publicity for the march, in the East End, carries 41-year-old Choudary’s personal mobile number and says the aim of the campaign is to “emulate the Prophet and his companions, by calling for Islam and speaking out against the oppression of man-made law”.

Bet Choudary can't wait till his band of muhajirun becomes strong enough, so they can begin emulating Muhammad's Medinan phase, that is, full blown jihad -- complete with British plunder and concubines. Too bad for him, though: he probably has to wait a few more years for that to be possible.

It says that Britain is full of “disbelievers” who are involved in prostitution, gambling, alcoholism and worshipping other gods.

The publicity says women are welcome to join the march but they must walk at the back of the procession as “strict segregation will be enforced”.

The demo comes 18 months after three of Choudary’s supporters were jailed for soliciting murder in a London protest against cartoons of the prophet Mohammed published in Denmark.

That was when some demonstrators chanted “Bomb the UK” and “Europe, you will pay with your blood”. Organiser Choudary was fined.

Today’s march won permission after a council withdrew funding for a St George’s Day parade in the Midlands – on the grounds that it was “racist”.

Parade founder Mark Cowles, 40, of West Bromwich, said yesterday: “I can’t believe Choudary’s event can go ahead.

“The British establishment is trying to take away the British voice but other cultures choose to force their way of life on us.”

This is amazing. They will not let the natives have a St George's parade, the hate preacher's group who openly supports the destruction of the West is allowed to parade down the street. This will not happen in the US if I can help it.

Yemeni court says Jew-killer "mentally unstable," gives him fine

Why did he get off so easy? Could it have anything to do with the fact that under Islamic law, someone who kills someone else must pay blood money to the family of the victim, but "the indemnity paid for a Jew or Christian is one-third of the indemnity paid for a Muslim" ('Umdat al-Salik, o4.9)?

"I killed the Jew," said Abdul Aziz Yahya al-Abdi in court awhile back. "I have told them in a letter that they should either convert to Islam or leave Yemen, or I would kill them."

A Yemeni court ruled Monday that a Muslim on trial for killing a Yemeni Jew is mentally incompetent and merely ordered him to pay a fine for the fatal shooting.

The slaying of Jewish teacher Moshe Yaish Nahari last December in Omran, north of the capital, San'a, raised fears of anti-Semitic attacks across the country.

Monday's ruling said the defendant - Abdel Aziz Yehia Hamoud al-Abdi, a retired pilot in the Yemeni air force - is "mentally unstable." It ordered him to pay a fine of 50.5 million riyals, or about $250,000.

Lawyer Khaled al-Anisi representing the slain teacher says the court showed "prejudice" and warned the light ruling opened doors to attacks that could lead to the eviction of the Jewish community from Yemen.

A Yemeni Web site, newsyemen.net, quoted the local police chief, Ahmed Yahya al-Suraihi, as saying at the time that Abdi, 40, had confessed to the murder, saying he had killed Nahari "for the sake of Allah."

The police chief was quoted as saying that Abdi told police he had sent a message to the Jews who live in the area that they must either embrace Islam, leave the country or be killed.
Prior to his murder, Nahari had previously received threats from Al-Houthi rebels, a Shi'ite minority that has been fighting government forces since 2004.

About 280 Jews currently reside in Yemen, 230 of whom live in Raida in the Omran province, with the other 50 in Sana'a. The Jews now in Sana'a fled there from their homes in Sa'ade province about a year ago due to harassment by the Huthi, a terrorist group connected to al-Qaida.

Most of the Jews of Yemen immigrated to Israel during Operation Magic Carpet in 1950. Several hundred Jews immigrated in two subsequent smaller waves - in the mid 1960s and in the beginning of the 1990s....

This is justice in the muslim world.

THE REAL GITMO:100% HUMANE

HAVING just re turned from leading a con gressional delegation to the terrorist-detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, I am more convinced than ever that President Obama's executive order to close Gitmo by next Jan. 22 is wrong and misguided and, if fully implemented, will threaten American security at home and abroad.

To be fair, the president deserves much credit for a series of key decisions he has made in the war against terrorism: 1) launching predator missiles against Taliban and al Qaeda locations in the Afghanistan-Pakistan theater; 2) detaining, without trial, enemy combatants captured and imprisoned overseas, and 3) invoking the "state secrets" privilege to block a lawsuit on CIA renditions (the practice of allowing other nations to interrogate non-US citizen terror detainees).

Unfortunately, his Gitmo decision undercuts these positive actions.

It has become an article of faith among the MoveOn.org crowd and the Democratic Party's liberal base to denounce Guantanamo as a symbol of inhumane treatment and torture. (Indeed, in his address to Congress on Tuesday, the president announced the closing of Guantanamo in the same paragraph in which he said "that is why I can stand here tonight and say . . . the United States of America does not torture.")

Yet that symbolism doesn't square with the real Gitmo.

Detainees at Guantanamo are treated far better than most American prisoners in the US jails and prisons I've inspected over the years. The unfounded accusations that are so regularly and cavalierly made about Guantanamo are a slander against the brave men and women of our armed forces, who perform their duties at that facility so professionally and under such duress.
If there's any scandal at Guantanamo, it is that the detainees are treated too well. Consider what I observed:
* Detainees get three full meals a day with a choice of menu.
* Each detainee receives a Koran and a prayer rug.
* Arrows throughout the facility point toward Mecca.
* Detainees receive full medical treatment - including psychiatric services. There is one medical personnel for every two detainees.
* Detainees who comply with regulations are allowed out of their cells for 16 to 20 hours a day and participate in various recreational and educational activities including soccer, language training and art classes.
* Noncompliant detainees - including the hardest of the hard core - are allowed out of their cells for four to seven hours a day. (It was particularly galling to observe a vicious terrorist reclining in the sun like a Palm Beach retiree.)
* Detainees have access to live TV, books and two daily Arab newspapers plus USA Today. (I suppose it would be inhumane to subject them to The New York Times.)
* Detainees are allowed to confer to discuss courtroom strategy.
* Guards within the facility are not armed and are regularly subjected to abuse and harassment, including having human feces and urine thrown at them.

These are not just my conclusions. The Defense Department has just finished its review of Guantanamo as ordered by President Obama and determined that conditions comply with the Geneva Conventions: "No prohibited acts were found and conditions are humane."

We are at war with Islamic terrorism. Gitmo is a major front in that war. Closing Guantanamo could well mean releasing deadly Islamic terrorists overseas or bringing them to American soil.

It would be craven surrender to left-wing groups and uninformed, self-righteous world opinion. We must do all we can to convince President Obama to reverse his decision.

Cabbie stabbed wife after 'visit ban lifted', court hears

A TAXI driver stabbed his wife to death just days after his second arrest for allegedly abusing her, a court has been told.

Sabina Akhtar was murdered by Malik Mannan within five days of police cancelling bail conditions which banned him from contacting her, Manchester Crown Court heard.

Mr Mannan had been arrested for defying those conditions - imposed after Sabina told police she had been attacked by him as many as 25 times, the jury heard.

Sabina, 26, the mother of their three-year-old son, was found dead at the family home in Charlton Road, Levenshulme.

She died from a single stab wound to her chest which penetrated her heart. Mr Mannan, 36, of Meldon Road, Longsight, denies murder, claiming he acted in self-defence.

Sabina, from Bangladesh, had an arranged marriage with Mr Mannan, who was divorced, the court heard.

She became upset when she found he was having an affair with a woman she called his `other wife' and with whom Mr Mannan had two young children, the jury was told.

But Sabina decided to `suffer in silence' and stay with him.

After marrying in Bangladesh in 2003, Sabina learned of the affair in 2005.

Despite assurances it was over, Mr Mannan kept seein the woman, said prosecutor Paul Reid.
He said Mr Mannan subjected Sabina to a catalogue of threats and attacks - and last July she called police. But `owing to her confusion and language difficulties, no formal complaint was recorded'.

The next day, Mr Mannan slapped their son and he burned the marriage certificate, the jury was told.

The court heard he grabbed Sabina's throat and ordered her to read passages from the Koran. "This is your final hour," he is alleged to have told her.

The jury was also told he said to Sabina: "I am going to get a knife and when I return I am going to slaughter you."

Sabina made a second complaint to police and Mr Mannon was arrested that day and later released on bail, on condition he did not approach his wife or go to their home.

But the Crown says he continued to harass Sabina and was arrested on September 7 for defying his bail conditions.

The jury was told Mr Mannan was arrested after he put his hand through the letter box and shouted to Sabina to open the door.

After he was released without charge and his bail conditions cancelled, the court heard he sent a text to Sabina boasting: "I am a free man since 1.30. Case file closed. Isn't it great?"

Mr Mannan's family told police on September 12 they hadn't heard from him, so officers broke into Sabina's home and found her dead.

This is what happens in the muslim world. A man is superior to a woman. This is stated in the koran. A muslim man is also able to marry upto four women. They do not have to agree to this either. I would like to know why it seems that muslim men are so violent? Could it be that they are spoiled babies? That they are men and should be given anything they want from a woman? Russian police: fanatics kill bowling alley owner

ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia: Police in the violence-plagued Russian republic of Ingushetia say a bowling alley owner was shot to death by suspected Islamic extremists who oppose games and some other forms of entertainment.

Ingushetia, a predominantly Muslim region, sees near-daily attacks or clashes that authorities blame on insurgents inspired by the years of separatist fighting in neighboring Chechnya.

The Ingush Interior Ministry said the Wednesday night killing in the town of Karabulak was believed to be the work of "fanatics" who have also attacked owners of other entertainment facilities in recent months.

Also Thursday, the ministry said police killed three suspected militants who had stored a large arsenal at a sheep farm.

Appeal by brother of Afghan journalist convicted of saying that men and women are equal

MILAN – Yaqub Perwiz Kambakhsh, 28, is in Italy to draw attention to the plight of his brother, an Afghan journalist sentenced to 20 years in prison for asserting that women have the same rights as men. “Italy has a moral duty to Afghanistan. Since the 2001 war, Italy has been committed to financing the reconstruction of the Afghan judicial system, at a cost of tens of millions of dollars. Why does it do nothing to halt this injustice inflicted on Sayed?” he demands.

It all began in 2007, when the 23-year-old Sayed, a journalist working for Mazar El Sharif-based media in the north of the country, claimed provocatively on his blog that “extremist mullahs” were misinterpreting the Koran. He wondered why, if Islam allows a man to take four wives, a woman can’t have four husbands. Sayed is an obscure provincial reporter but his words caused deep shock in an Afghanistan in the throes of religious restoration and a wholesale return to tradition. Sayed was arrested, charged with blasphemy and on 27 October 2007 he was sentenced to death. At that point, international humanitarian associations stepped in and media around the world picked up the story. The Afghan president Hamid Karzai was even asked to intervene. But the president proved reluctant. “He can’t speak out personally on behalf of the journalist. Karzai is struggling and losing consensus. He’s afraid he won’t win the presidential elections scheduled for late August 2009. He needs the Pashtun vote and the support of religious circles. He might say something in defence of Sayed, but only after the election”, explain well-informed observers. The compromise was to commute the death penalty to imprisonment, which was done on 1 October 2008, when Sayed’s sentence was converted to 20 years in jail.

ISLAM: UAE, ROW OVER SEX WITHIN MARRIAGE BOOK

ROME, FEBRUARY 26 - Fierce controversy has erupted in the Emirates over a book about the secrets of sex within marriage written by Wedad Lootah, a female lawyer who works on matrimonial cases at the court in Dubai. The book which came out about a month ago, includes several chapters on marriage within Islam, Islamic law on the issues of co-habiting and sex, and possible solutions to sexual problems. Arab News reports that it is mainly men who are against the book, maintaining that issues of this nature should not be discussed publicly. Some of the detractors have even gone so far as to accuse the author of being an infidel and sinner for writing the book. Supporters however say that there is a great need for published information on the issues and that until know Arab society has not wanted to recognize problems arising from ignorance in sexual matters. Lootah, who wears the Muslim veil, does not seem too surprised by the criticisms, and maintains that she based the book on Islamic sources, stressing that it was even approved by the mufti of Dubai. The book was suggested by her own six years of experience working on divorce cases, and from the knowledge that many of these cases come about because of a lack of preparation for couples in the matter. The men are against it because women are not supposed to be in charge of their own bodies. They are the property of their husbands. I have seen many quotes from imams stating that women should drop whatever they are doing to sexually please their husbands anytime he demands sex. It is in the koran. It says that men are superior to women in every aspect of life.
